Port Everglades Sets Sail with New, Easy-to-Navigate Web Site
Cruise passengers sailing out of Port Everglades can now book a hotel room and plan their pre- and post-cruise vacation directly from the Port's updated web site at http://www.porteverglades.net/ and through the main Broward County web site at www.broward.org/port . Similarly, international shippers and maritime service providers now have access to the Port's tariff, business directory, ship schedule and map all just a click away on the same web page.
"Within a five-mile radius of Port Everglades, our cruise guests have access to beaches, upscale shopping, golf courses, fishing, waterside tours, fine dining and an international airport. It makes sense that we should be promoting all of Broward County through our web site and not just our seaport," says Port Everglades Director Phillip C. Allen. "Our goal is to promote jobs and economic well-being to our community, and this is just one more step towards making that happen."
The updated http://www.porteverglades.net/ has a fresh style and navigational ease that compliments South Florida's nautical character and the Port's diverse business mix of cruise, cargo, petroleum, foreign-trade zone and real estate. Boxes on each page highlight the site's most popular features such as the Daily Ship Schedule, Statistics, Tariff, and the Port Map.
New sections "Cruise and Play" and "Get A Room" are specially designed to help cruise guests plan their vacations. "Cruise and Play" features special offers for cruise guests, sightseeing options near Port Everglades, upcoming special events and the latest dining deals. "Get a Room" is an online booking engine for hotels and even more with connections to flights, and car rentals.
"As cruise business grows at Port Everglades, the new site will encourage passengers to explore the many wonders of Greater Fort Lauderdale, affectionately called Port Lauderdale," says Nicki E. Grossman, president, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Quick reference boxes on either side of the Cargo page contain valuable information for shippers including a map of Port Everglades, traffic conditions surrounding the Port by the Florida Department of Transportation, the complete tariff, and the daily ship schedule.
"Our new site is a terrific reference tool to help people doing business with Port Everglades access important information quickly," says Carlos Buqueras, Port Everglades Director of Business Development.
The Business page of the new web site also contains quick reference buttons that are geared for easy access by current tenants and businesses at Port Everglades. Examples include the "ePayments" box that allows current customers to pay invoices online, and "Permits and more" with online applications to apply for permits, real estate leases and other documents needed to conduct business at Port Everglades. The Business page also links to information about Foreign-Trade Zone No. 25 at Port Everglades.
As one of South Florida's leading economic engines, Port Everglades is the gateway for international trade and cruise vacations. Already one of the three busiest cruise ports worldwide, Port Everglades is also Florida's leading container port. And, Port Everglades is South Florida's main seaport for receiving petroleum products including, gasoline, jet fuel and alternative fuels. The Port Everglades Department is a self-supporting Enterprise Fund of Broward County government and does not rely on local tax dollars for operations.
